ORNAMENTATION OF THE SKIN

Human skin manifests itself like a typewriter, imprinting away the story of one’s life. It realises its history by receiving stimulus, saving and preserving it into wrinkles, scars, bulges and folds. The realisation of my ornament carries me through this journey of discovery into qualities of a material which is able to adopt human skin-like qualities; chicken skin.

As my research progresses into the realms of data preservation and recording within building materials and skin, it struck me that the ability of a material to preserve data within itself stems from the capacity to receive the date, respond to it and preserve that response. It is an intricate process within the material itself which allows the transfer of abstract stimulus into analogue data.
