Manuel Jimenez Garcia, a registered architect in UK and in Spain, with a background in computer programming and interactive design, is the founder and director of MadMDesign, a London based research practice, which mainly focuses on the integration of computational processes and digital fabrication.
Manuel is currently developing an open source Java application called Soft-modelling, the resulting prototypes of this software have been exhibited at the London Clerkenwell Design Week 2013-14, Resonate 2014 (Belgrade) and Acadia 2014 Design Agency (Los Angeles).
His previous projects on catenary structures and digital materialism were featured in at Royal Academy Summer Exhibition (London) and Acadia 2012 Synthetic Digital Ecologies (San Francisco).
Alongside his practice, Manuel is currently Course Master of AD Research Cluster 4, as well as Unit Master of MArch Unit 19, both at The Bartlett School of Architecture (UCL)(London); he is also co-curator of the Bartlett Computational Plexus and Programme Director at the Architectural Association's Visiting School in Madrid (AAVSM). He has taught and run workshops at Architectural Association's Design Research Laboratory (AADRL) (London), Polytechnic University of Architecture (Madrid), European University Madrid and L’École Spéciale d’Architecture (Paris).
