After Cléo e o Mapinguari, the autor Saulo Ribas, the director of FAROFA STUDIOS kept having ideas of how many other friends Cleo could meet on her way and all the adventures she could get in. So it didn't take to long for him to come up with this new and beautiful story called Cléo e as Sereias or Cleo and the mermaids. I was lucky enough to illustrate once more this amazing universe of his.

Here I share a bit of my process. We started by developing the new characters that show up in this story, Cléo, Pingo and Tom are still there but now with some new friends:

After that was time to start developing the pages, for that I started with a quick thumbnail drawing trying to find the best way to translate the idea into lines. After setting up that I began the actual drawing and did a quick value study, lately it was time for my favorite step: the colours. For that I did a quick colour thumbnail, so i could test all the pages and have them all side by side to check how the colours were moving throughout them.

After finishing all the pages, me and Saulo started talking about the cover. Loved doing this one a night scene, with nice moon light, lots of characters and love.

Developed also a pattern for the back of the cover.
