Tommy Bahama Conceptual Only

Here is a project I created for Tommy Bahama to express my thoughts on how they might merchandise graphic apparel collections that tell a story around their beautiful vintage-inspired textile prints. The colors and designs their designers create are absolutely inspiring for graphic apparel designers like myself. The silk camp shirt was my inspiration.

Here are simply more Lifestyle Graphic Apparel options I created that express the aesthetic feel of the Tommy Bahama Brand. I was definitely inspired by what surf brands are doing these days and thought it was a natural fit to add to the TB branded graphic tee collection.
More graphic options that not only show the use of the TB Brand's visual language, but also shows my range of assorting colors, print locations, and utilizing the same graphic elements to strategically expand them into a nice little merchandized story at retail.

Here I chose to create a slightly more sophisticated graphic style that could speak to the TB consumer who might want to dress up their casual lifestyle tee with a nice pair of black silk shorts and sandals. The contemporary graphic style could also lend itself nicely to pair up with jeans and a blazer to wear out at night on the island.
Closer shot at how I evolved one beautiful vintage-inspired textile print into four slightly different but tightly merchandized tees. This not only gives the buyer and consumer choice, but may actually result in multiple transactions at retail.

Lastly I was inspired by the amazing illustrators at TB that create those beautiful full color works of art that showcase Hula Girls, Sportfishing, Parrots, Casinos, Lounges, Sports and many others. I chose to compliment their style with a more simplified vintage art style taken from mid-century matchbook art, polynesian menus, and the slick art style of the 1950's ad agencies. By hand-drawing and distressing the final illustration, you get the look of a retro tee. Choosing the subject matter and font styles was a fun project and my research made me realize how deep TB could go with this art style.
