Rapture Board Game

The Rapture Board Game was born in the second year of my graphic design degree. The idea originated from a project pitch I made, with intentions of creating a game inspired by Grand Theft Auto. With a team of designers we developed all aspects of the game with a new theme of Steam Punk. The aim of the game is survival.
THE BOARD

The layout of the board was primarily my task and all the features on it. The small illustrations represent different places within each area of the game. Rapture being the post apocalyptic land, is split up into five sections. The dessert Yallahar, the mountains of Bittermore, the vast ocean of The Abyss, the forests of Ordis and finally the city of Vengoth.
THE DICE

After deciding on the Steam Punk theme, it seemed inadequate to have ordinary dice to play the game with. As a result, we had two 3D printed from Shapeway and hand painted by myself to imitate the Steam Punk theme we had. The final outcome compliments the style and adds to the game play.
THE COUNTERS

Each counter was designed to match the individual character's personality added onto the unique player card that each member plays as. For example the scout would be allocated the bird of prey, whilst the soldier would be playing as the 3D printed shot gun. Again, these were object I loved painting and adding detail to.
THE CARDS

Each action on the board is as a result of an 'Area' space on the board, these act very similar to a 'chance'. Each area has a different scenarios to either hinder and help the characters as they work their way around the board. The mission cards add extra health to the characters on completion. The game is based on 'last man standing' and health cards depict the amount of time the character has before they are wiped out. If another character lands on the same space as another player, a duel will begin. Each player starts with a total of one hundred health.
