Cunard 175: Engine for Change

July 10, 2015 marked the 175th anniversary of the maiden voyage of Cunard’s flagship Britannia and its first crossing from Liverpool, England to Halifax, Nova Scotia. In celebrating this occasion, the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic opened Cunard 175: Engine for Change, a temporary exhibit highlighting Sir Samuel Cunard’s achievement in revolutionizing maritime travel and global communications. The exhibit lets visitors experience Cunard’s vision, from his humble beginnings in Halifax to the glory days of modern liner travel. Stories are told through the use of gallery graphics, ship model and artifact displays, digital animations, and interactive elements such as working steam engine models and a voice-pipe communication activity.

This project was designed with Aldrich Pears Associates and produced by Skyline Atlantic Canada.
