Schinkel's Bauakademie Reconstruction

Schinkel's Bauakademie: Revisited
Berlin, Germany
This project’s main goal was to reinvent Schinkel’s famous Bauakademie in Berlin, Germany, which was unfortunately destroyed in World War II. The program required that it be turned into an art gallery with all of the amenities, including a cafe and lecture hall/theater. What I decided to do was to utilize the original plan and south elevation to make an homage to Schinkel with a great multileveled archade where magnificent views can be seen from any part of the galleries. On the northern side of the building i incorporated a “modern” theater with a beautiful wooden aesthetic that will create a great contrast with the surrounding white walls.
