Veruca’s Home

Veruca’s Home is a project that reflects a social problem of parents overly spoiling children. The theme of the project was inspired by a girl, Veruca Salt, in a movie called ‘ Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’. In this movie, Veruca is portrayed as an immature, overindulged, manipulative, wealthy young girl whose affluent parents treat her like a princess and give her anything she wants. Finally, She is attacked by a load of squirrels and is thrown into a rubbish pipe.

The illustration book includes eight pictures, which demonstrate a sad and dark story of a litter girl living and dying in her home that is actually her father’s stomach. The aim of this book is to showing the side effects of dotage. Dotage makes children to overly depend on their parents, engenders the lose of children’s abilities of making a living and frustrates children’s physical and psychological development.
