1. THE DATE

SFX: Ambient sound inside a lounge/bar.
MVO: Well hello there gorgeous! Look at you. Sitting all by yourself, biding your time, casting nervous glances at your watch waiting for someone who hasn’t shown up. Ummm…unfortunate…especially on a first date. It makes you think he might not be interested…hmmm…that perfume, it’s intoxicating…and that dress looks snug on you. Who would keep a woman like you waiting? Certainly not me. Now I know I’m not much to look at but I make for that with charm…dollops of it. Many women will testify to that (chuckles to himself).
SFX: The sound of a chair being dragged gently across the floor, as the ambient sounds grow a little louder. The announcer VO fades in.

2. THE BALLET

MVO: Oh, look what I’ve just spotted! An empty seat. An empty front row seat. Vacant from the looks of it. I wonder who’d pay so much and not show up on time? Stupidity. Punctuality. Or just plain arrogance. Hmm. Maybe he wants to make a not so subtle late entrance, the kind that gets heads turning. But why am I overanalysing this? I should just focus on what I need to do which is sneak up front and take that seat. Simple. That way, I’ll get rid of the horrendous hairdo that’s obstructing my view and watch the ballet up close and personal…Mmmm, all for a discounted price!

FVO: Well, well, well… Guess who’s late again? Mrs. I-don’t-care-about-anything-but-myself! Why am I not surprised? I can’t believe she chose you as her maid of honour, and not me. Yes, you guys go back to “high school” but you haven’t really been around lately… I mean you can’t even make it on time for her civil marriage, imagine you’re late for her big day next week! You know what, good thing I’m here. Always covering up for you! (Pauses slightly) Now. Let me make one thing perfectly clear. With you out of the way, it’s gonna be all about me in those wedding pics… and I’m gonna look soooo fabulous standing next to our gorgeous bride. Sorry my dear, but this time I win.
