brief
–
Develop a collection of non alphabetical characters
which represent a specific neighbourhood in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Lower Lozenets
District profile
–
Lower Lozenets is a quiet residential area with many trees.
It’s one of the few central neighborhoods with small-scale residential housing.
The area is characterized by flower gardens in between buildings and wrought iron fences, which protect and adorn the private property.
Observations & Outcomes
–
We took our inspiration from the handcrafted fences - one of the most characteristic features of Lozenets district. What caught our eye was the artisanal feel of the fences, their geometric richness and individuality. We wanted to build on this specific decorative element and present it in a new and playful way.
Exhibition & Publication
–
In the end of the 4th day we presented our work in a small show.
All projects were collected in a simple hand stitched zine.
Each font specification was showcased in 2 spreads (size A4 and A3).
Further Explorations
–
In exploring possible further implementations of our graphic system we developed hand-taped poster (210x150cm) & a laser cut fence model to get a better idea of what a real size fence would look like. We're now working on an expanded digital version of the font.
