SINGLE FLOWER VASES

SINGLE FLOWER VASES
Designing a flower vase that can only hold a single flower was the brief for this project. I decided on making a skull vase by using Silicone Mold Making Rubber OOMOO 30 to create the mould, and Smooth-Cast 305 Liquid Plastic Compound to pour into the mould and create the vase. I then drilled a hole in one eye of the skull to pour some water inside, and placed the flower.

For the second vase, I created a transparent hairband and drilled a hole in it, to be able to pour water inside and place a flower. This plastic hairband was made by vacuum forming – the process of creating 3D objects from a flat Styrene Thermoform Plastic by heating, draping over a form (in this case, a couple of regular hairbands stacked on top of each other), then removing air from between the sheet and form. I did this process twice so that I could then glue the 2 shapes that I have created together with a solvent based adhesive, to form a hollow hairband.
