Salão Coboi is Apolinário Pereira, visual artist/sculptor, graduated from the University of Porto, Portugal.
Born as a mutant collective in 2009, two days after Michael Jackson’s death in the European Wild West (Portugal). Since end of 2011, Salão Coboi is Apolinário’s solo project, based in Portugal and Switzerland. Salão Coboi means Cowboy Salon in Portuguese, Salon coming from the “Salon de Paris”, which was the greatest art event of the Western World in the 18th and 19th centuries. In the same idea, Salão Coboi has collaborated with various artists, in areas ranging from illustration to woodwork sculpture, photography, cinema, music and fashion.

Sculpture for the "Salão Coboi X" exhibition at Colette (Paris), December 1st, 2014 - January 3rd, 2015.
For this first exhibition at colette, Salão Coboi decided to invite other visual artists around to contribute with an illustration. The result of these collaborations is a limited edition of unique sculptures based on the illustrations, a mashup between each artist’s and Salão Coboi’s universe. Salão Coboi combined special powers with Amandine Urruty (FR), AKA Corleone (PT), Ben Newman (UK), Geneviève Gauckler (FR), Jack Teagle (UK), Jean Jullien (FR), Jeremyville (AUS), Kevin Lyons (USA), Nicolas Barrome (FR), Raymond Lemstra (NL) et Steven Harrington (USA).
