Surface Design
This project started as a self-exploration with several phases of mind-mapping, brainstorming as well as a series of doodles and sketches. The design reflects five words that continued to appear during this self-exploration: energy, movement, positive, pop, and spirited. A series of subsystems; rotating some and duplicating others, were created leading to the construction of three superunits. Each superunit was broken into two distinct designs creating six total patterns. These patterns were printed on fabric. The colors used in the swatch book were inspired by springtime flower pedals; primarly dogwood pedals and forsythia bushes.
