Identity Design for the Massachusetts Brewers Guild

This is a rebrand of the Massachusetts Brewers Guild as well as a new design layout for their Massachusetts Brewers Trail Program, business cards, coasters,t-shirts, and pint glass. Through my extensive research of craft beer ranging from its rich history to the current craft beer revival I created a concept that revolves around the importance of strength in numbers as well as the idea that if we all work together we can create a positive movement. There are nine circles that create a square. Each filled circle represents a member of the guild. The outlined circle represents the guild itself. I chose to represent those within the guild as circles since it symbolizes unity and protection. The square symbolizes community and stability. It is also representational of the cardinal directions; North, South, East, and West, as well as the four seasons; Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter.The colors used are inspired by the main ingredients found in craft beer; water, barley, yeast, hops, as well as beer itself. Within the Massachusetts Brewers Trail Map there are a number of systems to  help the reader identitfy the location of breweries, the type of brewery, as well as pertenant information regarding a specific brewery. The type used is Avenir Next, created in 2007 the same year as the guild. Its geometric classification pairs nicely with the geometric symbol.
