    National Museum of African American History and Culture Competition Washington, DC Client: Smithsonian Institution Type: Architecture/ Interiors Size: 350,000sf Budget: $500 Million Status: Competition Completed 2009/ Estimated Construction Completed 2015 Role: Senior Designer/Production Team Leader Office: Professional Experience while at The Freelon Group Abstract: While an Associate and Senior Designer at The Freelon Group, provided design leadership and team coordination during the eight-week invited international design competition. Responsibilities included building program development and overall Master Facilities Program alignment, concept development and diagramming, final board layout and graphics. In April 2009, the Freelon Adjaye Bond SmithGroup team was selected by the Smithsonian Institution to build the new museum, chosen over five other teams including Norman Foster and Diller, Scofidio & Renfro.
