Photography Samples

These are samples of my photography. Many of these photos are from my solo painting trips to Italy, in 2012 and 2013. I'll include links to Facebook travel photo albums, at the bottom of this page.

I took all of the photos with a Kodak Easyshare camera, up to 2013. The two photos from 2013 were taken with an iPhone 4S.

Swiss guards having a pleasant chat. Vatican City, 2012
All walks of life deserve attention in life and in art. Rome, 2012
This guy could play extremely fast, beautiful accordion riffs. Florence, 2012
By chance I was at the right place and time to snap this photo. Rome, 2012.
A beautiful, well-dressed woman relaxing in the Umbrian hilltop village of Civita di Bagnoregio, in 2013. She lives part of the year in Rome, and part of the year in this exquisite location. (Scroll down for a photo of the fairy tale village)
Great Sand Dunes National Park, Colorado, USA, 2006.
Mockingbird against a radiant fall scene in Nashville, Tennessee, USA, 2004.

I was painting an ocean scene, when this guy climbed the rock in front of me to watch the sunset.
Riomaggiore, Cinque Terre, Italy, 2012

I was painting an ocean scene, when this guy climbed up on the rock in front of me. Soon he was joined by a girl, and they began posing in front of the sunset, unaware I was taking photos. I showed them the photos afterward, and they didn't mind. Then they took a photo of me painting.
Riomaggiore, Cinque Terre, Italy, 2012
Several older gentlemen were hanging out on the front porch of College Grove Grocery. I took several photos to use as painting references, and also for the enjoyment of capturing the peaceful moment. All of the gentlemen consented to the photos. College Grove, Tennessee, USA, 2012
While passing through a country town called College Grove, I happened to see several gentlemen passing the time on the front porch of an old grocery store. They all consented to the photoshoot, including this kindly-faced guy.College Grove, Tennessee, USA, 2012
Nicola entertained passers-by with his acoustic guitar playing, on a walking trail called Via Dell'Amore.Cinque Terre, Italy, 2012.
This ancient, crumbling, exquisite village has hotels—so I stayed there for three nights, completing three plein air paintings. Soon after I posted the paintings on my Facebook art page, someone messaged me, delighted that she could see her home in one of the paintings. I have no idea how she happened to find my paintings online, but she bought two of them, so we're both happy.
Civita di Bagnoregio, Italy, 2013
Here are links to my two solo trips to Italy. I love traveling alone and plan to go to India next, when the time and money allow. EDIT: I ended up going to Pakistan next, in 2017.
