The aim of this project is to educate the population on the existance of the Indian Gharials, a fish eating crocodilian species and ensure the people that they aren’t threatened by it and vice versa.
The thought of creating a book came from a lot of books I’d read as a child that I remembered that stayed with me including the book ‘Almost Gone’ by Steve Jenkins. I created a project that revolved around a children's book for the age group 6 - 10 years.
The first thing I had to do after my story was penned down was explore illustration styles for the book and see which one worked best.
The story revolves around a little girl finding and egg, taking care of it until it hatches and finding a baby gharial inside it. The book aims at making the animal seem friendlier and less threatening to children and to want to know more about it.
I decided to work with watercolour because it's the medium I'm the most comfortable with and then found my chosen style.
And then there was the final book.
