She Girls Club NMP & Live Brief 2015 (Uni project)

For my final negotiated major project at University, I came together in collaboration with one of my peers Kirsty McIver who studied on the Commuications  pathway. We had chosen the topic of Feminism for our dissertations that we started writing at the end of 2014 and we wanted to choose an NMP brief that would follow on from this. We initially wanted to rebrand Feminism and come up with an idea or concept that would allow for the topic to be spoken about openly and bringing empowerment to women and girls. We came up with the SHE Girls Club brand and concept which would be a programme brought into schools to educate on self-confidence, careers, personal brand and teamwork and communication skills. This was opened up into a live brief for us by Styles&Wood and Business In The Community as they were looking to put an 'Inspiring Girls Programme' into schools, so we were provided with content to develop and expand upon in terms of the design work and extra padding to create "double-lesson" sessions across 6 weeks.

As of the 20th May 2015, Jade and I along with Styles&Wood are going to be running the 6 weeks in Parrs Wood High School with Year 8 Girls with the content that we have developed and the booklets that we have designed.
We created six booklets under the themes: Self Awareness; Role Models & Celebrity Culture; Personal Brand; Careers; Team-work & Confidence; Self Reflection. We also created a Welcome Pack, She Girls Clues "Manifesto" and a range of materials to advertise the campaign along with 4 fully functional social media platforms.

Since She Girls Club started back in 2015, there have been some huge changes made taking the girls feedback into consideration. We updated the packs and sessions after such as successful cohort as we wanted She Girls Club to be even better and have a greater impact.

After another successful year, SHE Girls Club is growing rapidly with more businesses wanting to become ambassadors of SHE as well as members of Styles&Wood. We are hoping that in 2017 we will be able to deliver it to at least another 2 schools alongside Parrs Wood. When we created the idea of SHE, one of the key drivers was to create this network of empowered females and if we can deliver it to more schools then the network becomes bigger and stronger and more powerful. We’re really looking forward to coaching our SHE ambassadors over the next few months and we’ll hopefully be able to deliver this programme to more girls in the future.
