Whilst at Oxfam Carl was tasked with the responsibility to refresh the three catalogues and related content within the Oxfam Online shop. this involved Carl’s role as design lead was to re-think and design the website (information architecture and layouts) using wire frames and photoshop. Then implement by using new site CSS, jQuery and HTML infrastructure.

This involved incremental changes to elements like buttons, headers, price-points and the treatment of promotions and images, to larger and more drastic changes including new layout structures, navigation tools and the type of content used. In each case a middle ground almost always had to be found between introducing something new without it seeming out of place with existing content that was not yet updated due to the cautious budgeting practices of Oxfam. Ideally, it would have been great to completely renovate the website from fresh including a horizontal navigation and a wider content area to play with… Perhaps that will be in next years budget? :)
