Navigli Area Map | Project

Layout of map the night-life in the Navigli area in Milan
Year: 2011/2012 |  Place: SPD |  Colours: Black/White
Tools: Adobe InDesignAdobe Illustrator
Team: Tolga Aygör Project partner
This is a map I did together with my project partner Tolga Aygör in the Wayfinding Lab course in the Visual Design master during my education time at the Scuola Politecnica di Design.

The map shows the night life of the Navigli Area of the city of Milan. In fact, you can see the river and the buildings and streets of the surroundings, that I took directly from Google Maps, with a lot of attention in the details .
In the main part, on the right, along the Naviglio you can see the icons that represent the different pubs and restaurants that can be found near the river; these icons are able to show two different layers of information:

• the different icon inside sorts the places by type (Aperitivo & Restaurants, Pubs and Happy Hours, Clubs & Concerts).
• the colour of the icon highlights the price range of the different places, and it goes from the green (cheap) to the red (expensive). As you can see, the more you get closer to the intersection of the two rivers, the more the price rises.

In the left sidebar you can find some tools to read the map in a better way. On the top, there is a mini-map of the whole city; then, in the middle, there is the legenda of the icons that sort the places by type and the colours that define the price range; in the last part, at the bottom, you can find the full list of the addresses of the places shown on the map.
