Cloudcroft, New Mexico
Cloudcroft New Mexico is located in the south east part of the state, across the mountain from Alamogordo and near white sands. It's a place of natural beauty and contrasts. As you cross the mountains from east to west, you quickly go from a cool climate with huge fir and pine trees to a scrub desert with sand and cactus.
Winter Blues. While at the peak of one of the mountains near Cloudcroft New Mexico, it began to snow quite hard. It was late in the day and the heavy snow make the sunlight even dimmer than it already was. I spotted these beautiful fir trees and with the low light, the photo turned out blue. A cold scene on a cold day in the Rockies.
The Alamogordo-Sacramento Mountain Railroad was abandoned in 1948 after 50 years of service. The old trellis near Cloudcroft New Mexico was the sight of this photo, and a place for a couple of boys to push their luck!
The boys deicide to call it a day. Not a place you would want to stumble.
