Mexican cartels have been involved in more that 118,000 homicides and 105,000 kidnapping cases kidnapping cases which have resulted in 10,000 children being orphaned. In addition, cartels are responsible for the death of 3000 soldiers and 4000 cases of reported blackmail. Thus, these events demonstrate how drugs have impacted more than 240,000 people.
