An international performance company based in Singapore, Theatreworks Ltd commissioned me to design the print/web material for their annual 24-Hour Playwriting Competition,
a local literary marathon for young, aspiring playwrights.
Held at the Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall, the visuals had to subtly reflect
the location. Most importantly, having a budget for only one artwork, the graphic
had to be highly scalable; a strong visual that would work in their various collaterals.
The final outcome was an iconic, yet raw graphic, remniscent of the screen-printed posters ubiquitous in China during the 1910s. To further portray this on a tactile level, the flyers and posters printed on a cream, natural-fibre card stock, mirroring the raw unbleached paper used then.
