Mage emblems, Naznaczeni Błękitem

Naznaczeni Błękitem (Marked by the Blue)
by Ewa Białołęcka
My favourite and certainly one of the best books I have ever read. It is a story situated in medieval times. It is every bit just like reality with one exception - magic exists. People are born with talents. It is not known how are they born and what determines their magical abilities. They are respected but treated like a regular part of the world. They have their capitol, school and take important part in politics. The story has (at this time)
4 parts and is written extremely pleasantly and realisticly. Variety of multidimensional characters and very well thought logical plot with references to mitology makes this book something every fantasy fan should read. Unfortunatelly things don't always look so well in Poland when it comes to books. I am still waiting impatiently for the next part of the story. In the meantime I decided to make my little illustration of some part of  the story.
In this case - the mage emblems.
Each mage has their symbol tatooed on their chest. It symbolizes their abilities and also the level of power (blue is the highest mark).
The construction is completely based on the circle. The idea came from the  description of the symbols written in the book. They are tatooed on the chest and each caste has it's own emblem closed in the circle. Also the institution which gathers the mages is called 'The circle'. Therefore
I decided to use that in my illustration. Underneath are the two best examples of the construction grid.
The dots are reference to the five towers which stand in the magic capital.
Illusion Weaver
A mage who is able to create complete illusions using his imagination and creativity. Works on every one of the human senses. This mage is the main hero of the story for the most part. Therefore I decided to make it the cover.
Word Keeper
Their talend lies in remembering every single event of their life. In order to nurse their memory they spend most of their time reading books. Because of their nature they are called 'turtles'.
Creator
Is believed to be the most powerful kind of mage. Their ability enable them to freely manipulate matter in any way they want. It is speculated that dragons were created by them. They specialize in healing and manufactoring just about anything. They can also communicate telepathically.
Spark
Feared by the common folk these mages posses the ability to change temperatures of their environment. It often results in them burning their surroundings. They played huge role in winning the wars.
Orator
Posseses an ability to communicate telephatically and read the thoughts and feelings of others. They can easily detect when a person lies or what he thinks which enables them to easily manipulate others.
Observer
These mages are able to enter the minds of others even from the great distances. They can read minds but ara unable to communicate.

Beastmaster
They connect themselves to animal(s) and take care of them. Their abilities allow them to understand any animal and communicate with it. Their huge compassion brings them a lot of suffering due to the fact that animals kill each other and are killed by humans. They never eat meat.
Wanderer
This type of mage is certainly one of the most useful and also the most deadly. Their abilities enable them to instantly teleport themselves and objects in different places. The distance depends on their level of power. Their deadlines comes from the facts that they can transport only the part of the object and therefore cut them in perfectly cut pieces. One blue wanderer is able to carve a whole army of regular men.
