Creating using intalgio (printmaking technique).
This scene portraits Kamyk , the main character, in the moment when he's about to meet his dragon friend named Pożeracz Chmur. Kamyk being deaf can't hear the beast snaking behind him. Fortunatelly for him the dragon is very young and eager to play. Fascinated by the fact that the human doesn't run away despite his efforts to scare him by roaring behind him, the creature comes closer and makes contact through mind.
Having befriended the dragon, Kamyk decided to use the fastest way to get to the magical exam - by air. The fastinating experience of the flight over the ocean is shown in this illustration.
The final one illustrates the moment of Kamyk's fascinating illusion created to impress the mages from The Circle. He crafted a underwater scene containing everything as if it was real. Needless to say, he passed the exam.
I used this old technique to obtain the illusion of the book being old. It is a fantasy story situated in medieval times. People write books by hand and draw everything themselves. I needed this mood in my version of the book. This is how I want it to look like:
