the failure of architecture

the failure of architecture
Modernism in architecture was the starting point of what we live today in the field of urbanism and cityspace. But most of the time the beautiful project designed on the paper reveal their failed goals in the reality. Not all modernist social housing projects were as successful: many were demolished from the 1970s due to large-scale failure. One of that will be the now infamous Pruitt Igoe urban housing development in St. Louis, Missouri, completed in 1955. After the construction, the life condition of the inhabitant of the complex started decreasing. Poverty and criminality start to be the main-theme on the chronicle of the area. The 16th March of 1972, only 20 years after their opening, started the demolition of the complex.
