Week #51 / 52 – Three Cars Nostalgia

What is this project about?
This week, I wanted to spend more time working on 2D style rendering in Cinema 4D, using the Sketch and Toon. At the same time, I have been meaning to do a project with old cars for a while. So I combined these two desires and created three renderings of older cars: one childhood memory (the Citroen 2CV which my mother drove for years), one that I discovered recently and which I find funny looking (the BMW Isetta, which I saw around Palo Alto California recently) and one which I think is beautiful (the Bugatti Type 57).
 
With Sketch and Toon, I wanted to create a look similar to that of the european 'Ligne Claire" tradition, used in the graphic novels and comic books (such as Tintin, Blake and Mortimer, Spirou et Fantasio or Yoko Tsuno) which I was a fan of (and still am).
How did I create these images?
The images are created in Cinema 4D for all modelling and lighting, and final compositing and texturing is done in Photoshop.
 
I spent most of my time experimenting different techniques with Sketch and Toon. There are excellent tutorials on Greyscalegorilla and Eyedesyn.
