Memories – 2014
This is a photography project that deals with memories: Things that were mundance to someone eighty years ago have something magical today. Especially letters and postcards are fascinating because they were common and the norm back then and are now seen as something romantic.
People in old photographs and letters seem far removed from today. To find a connection to those daily events long ago I visited the addresses from postcards in Linz.
These old postcards are an approach to someone's private life, and those people probably wouldn't appreciate that someone in 2014 is reading their private mail. And yet there are countless old photographs and letters to be found on flea markets nowadays. When has enough time passed for a private letter to become a flea market item? Will my private mail be interesting to someone in hundred years?
