As part of the latest brief in my course in Animation & Motion Design, myself and two other students created an animation using stanza 14 of Oliver Goldsmiths 'The Deserted Village'.
At the end of the brief the other two students and I had created an animation that was projected onto two joined planes.
These were the intial storyboards, at the time we hadn't decided on the shape of canvas we would be projecting onto in the final piece but we were quite certain on how it would interact.
Then came the animatic, I had gone in and tweaked some of the storyboard sections as I felt it wasn't clear enough what was happening on screen.
With the animatic, we were able to begin the first of the projection work, handling the software we would need to project & encounter potential problems early on. We had created a time-lapse of our second test with the projection.
Then came the production, I took on the role of character animator since its one of my stong suits. The group had decided the characters would be in shades of blue while most of the backgrounds would be red. We wanted the two to contrast off each other as well as projecting colour off the canvas onto the walls surrounding the canvas.
