MINIMAL FLAT CONCEPT
PROJECT. ZOW MINIMAL FLAT COMPETITION FOR AN INTERIOR DESIGN EXHIBITION
ZARAGOZA, SPAIN. MARCH 2009
In May 2009 ZOW Company organized a competition for the development of a 40m2 Minimal Housing Concept for a fair of companies dedicated to the furniture and interior design sectors. This competition was looking for new ways of organizing interior space with innovative materials and ecological criteria with potential for commercialization.
The proposed concept here unites all the elements under a common module adapted to a human scale, 60cm unit with multiples and submultiples dimensions. Furniture and walls are combined under this module to create versatile mixed elements. The accumulation of applications in those series of elements allows the optimization of the surface, something necessary for this kind of minimal housing.
The main space is opened and lightened gradually over an entire wall, which combines transparent, translucent and opaque panels. Depending on the desired grade of privacy the position of the mobile opaque panel can vary. This combination of transparencies is aesthetically suggestive and functionally useful at the same time.
