Lathi is a short project based on material exploration. The brief was to collect naturally existing materials and use them as tools as well as raw material to come up with a product. I found the properties of Amaltas fruit to be very interesting and decided to make a serving tray out of it.
Stonecut and finished by hand, Lathi, meaning stick in Hindi, is a simple lifestyle product inspired by traditional Indian dining practices where we put salt, lemon, chillies and masala on our plates (or banana leaves, in southern India) before putting food. This organic serving tray has small compartments for the various add-ons and gives an essence of being closer to nature, making ones dining experience more enjoyable.
