The forecasting process began with looking at current events and the fashion runways. From the stories I discovered from runway fashion, I was able to apply the general theme towards women’s sportswear footwear at a commercial level. I mainly focused on searching for footwear that would emerge from the current sneaker wedge trend. I found that platforms and double outsole shoes were common in high end fashion brands on the runway. To demonstrate my initial concept design, I used existing Nike outsoles and Photoshop’d a double outsole platform. If a sample were to be built, existing tooling could be used saving on overall cost while still displaying a Nike-esk look. To provide even further clarity around my concept, I made several models in Rhino to bring the concept to life. In summary, I am forecasting that a platform sneaker will become the next fashion trend for women’s footwear fashion.
