I was approached by the Nike Sports Research Lab with a request to alter some shoes for a Nike athlete who was complaining of the heel rubbing during their run. The shoes were a new prototype undergoing a wear testing. I modified the shoes with some surgery and fused them back together for the athlete to try. At the time, I didn't know the shoes were for Galen Rupp, who was an early tester for the VaporFly 4% shoe.  A year later, he wore them in the Boston Marathon, along with other athletes and during his win in the Chicago Marathon. I'm proud to have helped alter his shoe early on and see him succeed as a runner.
