Jack Lowe's profile

RNLI Lifeboat Crews No.1

Six crew portraits from the inaugural trip of The Lifeboat Station Project — my mission to document all 237 RNLI* Lifeboat Stations in Britain & Ireland using Victorian photographic methods.

To me, these plates are the Project's gold dust.

It's sometimes tricky to rally the crew members, after all they're volunteers so it can be hard for them to step away from their jobs for a photo call.

However, when they do, I'm sure you'll agree that it's so worth it as beautiful photographs are brought into the world for all to enjoy.

All the photographs are 12x10 inch Ambrotypes (wet plate collodion positive images on glass).
