iJumbo | Visual and Logo Redesign

This project was a redesign of an existing mobile application, iJumbo. This mobile app is used daily by Tufts students to stay current with things going on around campus. Be it dining hall options or campus events, iJumbo will help you out.

Due to time constraints and availability, the developer stated that there would be no structural changes. This was an exciting challenge to use visual design to improve the user experience. The old designs appeared static, and felt heavy. To change this, I subtely incorporated photos of the campus throughout the application as a background. This added a human element to the designs and created depth.
In redesigning the logo, I wanted to include the Tufts' mascot, an elephant named Jumbo (now iJumbo probably makes more sense). In this final iteration, I was able to incorporate the elephant, but also mimick the curve of a "J" and the dot of an "I". This strong sihlouette helps Tufts' students to be able to easily recognize this logo within their bed of apps.
