Shibori is a Japanese printing technique wherein one twists, folds or compresses the cloth. The designs are in harmony with the patterns and the multicoloured natural and acid dyes . There were plentiful techniques like Arahi which is pole tying, Itajime which is a shape resist dye technique,Nui in which we stitch and pull the loose ends and we learnt the honeycomb techinque as well . As the colors appealed to me, closed shoes seemed to be an unusual product. The shades of maroon, lemon yellow and browns were appropriate for giving them an earthy look.
The shoes were my first attempt to merge textile technique with product which I wish to pursue in future. This triggered my imagination wanting to make some products using the characteristics of textile fibers.
