On the edge of your seat

I participated in a contest that invited young illustrators to create a poster for an event. The event is hosted by libraries and schools to encourage children between the age of 4 and 12 to read more. This year their theme was advenure; meaning not only the stories but also adventures a child could experience with friends. The title means 'on the edge of your seat'.
Several sketches I did to pick out the best handlettered text. Because the title discribes the theme of the event, I wanted it to be an important part of the poster. I wanted it to be big and bold, but also something nice to look at, and not the forget still be readable for kids who are just starting to read.
Along the way the background changed colours. I wanted something warm and something that went along with the colours of the illustrartions on the poster. It also had to be pleasing to look at, so I decided to pick a few colours to use for everything, so it wouldn't become one big rainbow of colours.
The final image! I made sure to pick something of every adventure, so every child would have something for them on it. The poster includes references to characters such as a dragon, a mermaid, vampires, faries, but also a 'normal' kid going on his own adventure.
Thanks for watching!
