LoveLock - Using curiosity to engage public users

There is a Bridge in Paris where lovers attach locks to express their commitment to each other. Lovelock is a technology probe that leverages this unique context to study new strategies to make public displays more effective.
As a technology probe, lovelock is an Android mobile deviced insida a custom laser-cut case.
It is meant to look like a lock on the bridge and dissapear into the background, while at the same time it lures people by playing "cue" sounds or showing "curious" images. When it is picked up, the accelerometer makes sure to change the GUI from the attraction phase to the engagement phase, where It offers two different interfaces for users to play with. If left alone, it goes back to "luring" mode.
After several live user studies in the wild, LoveLock proved to be effective at gathering lot's of attention without disrupting the ambience of the unique Bridge.
