I've never studied as an artist, but I've been an engineer for a LONG time.  I think my other pieces tend to have a engineering flair to them - I focus on challenges to the glass - like crisp straight lines and colors that physically react to each other.  I wanted to try something different and I was in John Howie's Steakhouse and saw a big glass mosaic that focused just on color and texture.  I thought "cool, I know a lot about making various textures - let's try it".  This is the result.  I'd love some feedback - particularly on the design side.  All of the colors and textures were fabricated by me and are in my (mostly) complete control, so I will incorporate the feedback into my next piece.  I was really nice to free my mind from the engineering and just work in this palette of textures and colors.  I'm going to do more of these.

This piece is 20" x 20" by an average of 3/8" thick glass.   The glass tiles were all fused and then cut individually and glued to a piece of 22 gauge steel.  It is mounted to the wall with a set of 1" stand offs.
