Insect Match Game

Our assignment for this project was to create and illustrate a match game for children using a technique of our choice. For my match game design, I chose to limit my illustrations to insects. I felt that using this particular set of creatures would be different and could be used for both genders. For the back of the cards, I chose to make a simple pattern using a series of hearts and circles to create a flower shape, which is something all insects have in common. I chose a heart because in every insect there is a heart-shape within the insects, whether it be their wings or part of their body.

As for my technique, I chose to make digital illustrations and place textures that I found in magazines into my illustrations. The textures are from dresses, purses, accessories and more. Below, I have included a few examples of the magazine pages that I used to mask inside my insects.
