The End of E&C is a team project on interactive locative narratives created through a web application for the iPhone. Theory on narratives, preliminary and secondary user research (artists and creative people) and group brainstorming sessions led us to this concept.

The User of the application becomes an active participant of the "narrative". The theme of the narrative is the destruction of Elephant & Castle (an area of South London) and has the aim to allow our target users (local artists and creative people) to give their artistic imprint on the urban space and architecture of the area by inserting them in the role of a reporter that needs to explore the space. The app guides the users through GPS to different buildings in Elephant and Castle. Once arrived on location the user watches a short videoclip that narrates a fictional catastrophic event happening in that specific location. The user is then asked to interpret the event seen in the video, take a picture of the building and draw on the photo what he imagines might be a possible end to the scenario. In this way a unique story is created with each participant which displays people's imagination related to the partial story communicated through the video clips of each location but also documents how local artists perceive the space of Elephant and Castle and how they would modify it. At the end of the experience the user can browse through Gallery of the app to discover how his drawings combined with the video clips merge into a personalised complete narrative plus look through the previous users' stories. The concluding outcome of the application is to raise awareness of the conditions of the area by allowing artists to illustrate the changes they would make through an active, physical & social approach.
