Feed My Starving Children Provides Millions of Meals

Thomas Allen Disselkamp has served as a product development specialist in the Infection Prevention Division at 3M in Minnesota since 2010. In his current role, Thomas Disselkamp assists in the development of sterilizers, incubators, and stethoscope and diagnostic products. Outside of his professional activities, Tom Disselkamp supports several charitable organizations, including Feed My Starving Children (FMSC), a Christian nonprofit group that provides food to individuals affected by hunger in more than 70 countries.

In response to the recent Ebola outbreak that has devastated many families in parts of West Africa, FMSC is ramping up its efforts in the area to ensure that individuals recovering from the disease, and those caring for them, have the food they need to regain and maintain their health. It is currently planting season in West Africa, but many farmers are not working because they lack the help they need and/or are afraid of contracting Ebola.

FMSC is concerned that the lack of planting will put a heavy strain on West Africans and lead to a food shortage in the coming months. To combat this, the organization is working closely with its West African partners to distribute the millions of meals that are needed in the region. FMSC delivered a total of 5 million meals in November 2014 and is planning to send many more to West Africa throughout the next six to 12 months.
