Deep Blue is the latest Disney’s huge launching, a saga of 4 books in which six mermaids try to protect and save their hidden worlds spread in different places in the ocean.

Accompanying the sales launching of the first book, The Ebeling Group and Disney have asked Gizmo to produce the first animated trailer where two main characters, Seraphina and Ava, are brought to life to return to the “Great Volcano” a powerful talisman.

Based on 2D concepts developed by Disney, Gizmo has turned into a 3D world all characters and environments in this passionate story. 

 

In an artistically level, we were after finding a realistic look and feel that let us reach, through an animated world, a teenage audience, to whom this saga is aimed to.  This has been a huge challenge for Gizmo due to the technical complexity a production of this characteristics has (characters with complex shaders and rigs , cloth simulation, fluids, development of different hair systems, vfx, etc)  and in a tight Schedule of 3 and a half moths.

 

The result of this animated development of a minute length can be appreciated also in Bea Miller’s video clip, in her song “Open your Eyes”.
