Logo concept for a Battle of the Bands Live music event. Looking for something edgy and in-your-face, appealing to a younger audience. This is about rock music! Fun. Quality. Live Music. Don't go nuts with Pirate imagery, feel free to include some, but mainly they wanted to communicate that this is a LIVE MUSIC event. 

Decided to really play off the 'rock the plank' concept by illustrating and implementing the plank element into the designs.

The parot concept ended up looking like a cchildren's ereal box logo. I guess I went a little too young for their 'younger auidence' target.
