This was the outcome from chasing after a more realistic style in my illustration. I used many photo's from tumblr blogs to try and nail the subtle lighting details that exist in the real world. It was a long time consuming illustration but I think it's a fantastic learning exercise. Because it forces you to pay attention to the details you discover all these intricacies in lighting which you can then later incorporate in faster, more simplistic illustration styles. I definitely want to do more like this.
