Concept: kin•ship (ˈkɪn ʃɪp) n.
1. the state of being kin; family relationship.
2. relationship by nature, qualities, etc.; affinity; likeness.
Outcome: The final album layout was a six-panel gatefold design which utilised a combination of fine illustration, white space and colour symbolism to represent the abstract nature of kinship. The hands are complex yet paired with simple blood-lines to exaggerate this notion of connection that is intrinsic to the human condition. The gestural act of these hands reaching out to one another and the white space that breathes throughout the work reinforces the concept that these relationships are not only instinctual but of great comfort to the soul.
