Pop is a video texting (read: video walkie talkie) application developed by Imagist Labs, Inc. The first video above was produced as a web-only teaser commercial that addresses one problem with text messaging that POP solves for: embarrasing auto correct errors. This teaser was released by Imagist Labs before revealing what POP is or does.

 

Rob planned, produced, shot, edited, and finished the entire piece in a five-week time span. Besides the usual budget/time constraints, the biggest challenge was getting the commercial to look like it took place within a quick 2-minute text interraction between two women, but in reality the scenes were shot over two afternoons in different locations with varying degrees of wind, noise and light levels. A second challenge was creating and animating the text message windows so they compliment, not overpower or disctract from the actresses and the overarching message.

This is the second video of the series gives a quick glimpse into how Pop notifies, recieves and sends video messages. The biggest challenge here was to shoot all footage in a single day, over two locations, using a variety of shooting techniques including hand-held, steadycam, and various tripod setups.
