The Cutting Ball Theater was founded with a mission to develop productions of experimental new plays and revisioned classics, with an emphasis on language and images. The Cutting Ball’s vision is to produce plays that reveal a poetic truth as opposed to a naturalistic or realistic one.

 

These selected samples were from Rob's event photo booth for An Absurdist Affair, the Cutting Ball's 15th anniversary party that featured a variety of pop-up performances and an audience that was encouraged to dress in costume. The gentleman in the red dress above is the Cutting Ball's Artistic Director and co-founder Rob Melrose and his son.

 

Strobist information: The booth was setup with one Canon 5DmkII full-frame camera front and center. The key light was an umbrella in the upper left, with a shoot-through umbrella as a fill light directly behind the camera. A realtime preview monitor was positioned just out of frame, camera-left.
