The Toronto Emerging Leaders Network is a group of energetic and inspiring emerging leaders who motivate each other to take action with the purpose of making the city of Toronto the best and most prosperous place it can be.
When the group was created in 2006 it was small but growing quickly. Soon it was becoming necessary to begin an exercise in organisational design to give this young organisation a chance at success and to help future members and volunteers manage it more effectively.
As an early member of Toronto's Emerging Leader's Network I worked to build the organisation's governance structure and communications strategy as a part of a volunteer executive committee working to structure the organisation.
It was a long and arduous process that involved organisation wide engagements and discussions to be able to ensure that as much of the identity of the organisation was embeded in both its governance structure and its communication strategy.
While currently residing in the UK, I am still very much involved in the Toronto Emerging Leaders network and regularly refer fellow Canadians I meet oversees looking to return home to one of their most successful programs, Toronto homecoming.
