Messing around in Photoshop; Marker Pen Principles and Photoshop Principles are not to dissimilar, both exercise the need to tricking the eye with light and dark; Dark pushes away to the distance, and Light pulls towards the foreground...
Render stages, building up the colour's, before 'pushing and pulling' with the light and dark tones...
